2nd Article Complete

I have just completed my second article for my Fresh magazine and I am very pleased with the way in which Ihave set out the pages and the pictures have a rally good effect.

I will now start on my analysis for adverts and contents as re drafts and then finsh off my frnt cover and contents pages at college :)

First Article Complete

I have just completed my first double page spread of my article on Amy's new single Heaven and Hell andheres what it looks like! :

I am really happy with the outcome. I used a colourscheme that would match her characters mood and the way in which RnB/hip hop magzines layouts look. Following my research on RnB/hip hop articles I found they tended to use formal ish looking layouts with black and white frequent. So I have added a splash of colour.
Today in college I am getting somehwre with my front cover however we are having trouble making our photoshop documents into picture images (jpeg) so I will add them onto the site when that is sorted. :D

Getting Somewhere...

I have been finshing off some work for hoursssssss and I have finally finished my re drafts of my article analysis's! yaaay . I have also taken pictures of my Friend Amy for my first magazine article for 'Fresh' magazine yesterday ( RnB. Hip hop magazine) and have 'styled' her in the style of Rihanna herselffff. After picking our favourites I decided to get too work planning my first double page spread article. I drew out the two pages and planned how to set it out. My first article is of an interview with *Amy and how her new single is so successful. One whole page is of her in black and white and the other side is the interview which follows the coventions of the articles I have studied, I am just about to start playing around with fonts and colourschemes that i will follow throughout the magazine (to keep it all linked).
Last lesson I completed my practice Vibe cover and contents page and now that I am used to photoshop I will use tomorrows lesson to start creating my front cover. Also wll be getting some more pcitures from my other friens to use in my next article! So much is happening! :O But I am on top of it all :) x

REdrafts of magazine cover analysis

I have finally just completed my magazine cover analysis redrafts and am pleased I have got somewhere.. I have also started my article redrafts and my actual magazine articles. However last lesson I have finally got to grips with photoshop and have created my practise college magazine cover, I need to do the contents page next lesson and then get on with my actual cover at college. Meanwhile at home I am drawing up my article plans and taking pictures for the magazine to create on Microsoft publisher.

I have decided to do my articles on publisher because I can do them in my own time at home as i dont have photoshop and i can always use photshop in my final ones if they don't turn out so good.

Questionnaire Time...

Today I have had my questionnaire checked over for my target audience of my music magazine and have finished a final version. This is how it now looks:

I have added some layouts of magazine covers from the same genre of music magazine to see what sort of layout appeals to people and catches their eye. From this I can base my front over on what people like to see, ie colour schemes and layout of main images.

Anyway I will now print off my comparison of adverts and contents pages to hand in for tomorrows lesson.

Deadline Day....

I have just given in my article analysis coursework and i have tried my hardest every night for weeks to get it right. These are the articles I analysed, the first two are from XXL magazine, the next from NME and the last is from Top of the pops (only the picture as article wasnt available).


I have also just recieved my cover analysis coursework back and i did fairly well, I have 'potential' but i need to use more media terminology and expand my answers. It has made me determined to try even harder in my work and to really think about what I am writing down.


Today we have also set our targets for the next term, I have decided that I will try and revise some of the terminolgy to use confidently in my work.

Half Term work

Over the halfterm I have been working on all my article analysis for music magazines. So far I have managed to finish 3 of the 4; i have done articles for NME, top of the pops and XXL. This week I will finish my last article analysis and compare the teo adverts and contents pages. xxx

Analysing Magazine covers

We have been analysing music magazine covers of different genres to gain a deeper understanding into the conventions of the covers. Also it gave me a chance to practice looking into the denotationas and connotations of the text/images on them. I analysed nme, vibe, Complex and Rolling Stone magazines, looking into Complex and Vibe magazine most importantly as they are the similar genre to the magazine I will be creating myself. I really enjoyed this part of the coursework as i want to work in magazine design when im older, and i have always had an eye for magazine design . ;)

My feelings :S

I am looking forward to creating and designing the layouts for my magazine, but i am worried about my organisational skills . I hope I will overcome this!

My first Blog :)

We have been asked to start using a blog to post our planning for our media music magazine. We have been asked to collect music magazines to start recognising the conventions.
